Join Scientific Adventures for Girls in engaging girls in K-6th grades become the next generation of STEM professionals! Make a difference in a girl's life by showing up weekly to help in SAfG's afterschool STEM program.
Volunteer Teaching Assistants support our SAfG Head Teacher in our afterschool STEM program. You do not need to prep for the day, just show up to support the SAfG Head Teacher.
This is also a volunteer opportunity you can share with a colleague if you would like to switch off every other week to support.
Your weekly presence helps the girls build confidence around STEM, supports collaboration, problem solving & perseverance in the classroom.
Teaching Assistants support at one of our 22 partner elementary schools during our 27-week afterschool program with hands-on classroom activities.
Here are the requirements:
1) Approximately 2 to 2.5-hour weekly commitment at one of our Oakland or Richmond sites in the Bay Area.
2) Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.
3) Two clearances and a brief interview and training designed to help prepare you to support in the classroom. (LINK below).
